Born in Bochum in 1989, Schaghajegh Nosrati is highly regarded as a versatile musician. Due to
her excellent reputation as an interpreter of Bach’s music, she was able to establish herself as a
concert pianist at a young age. Her international breakthrough came through increasing musical
collaboration with Sir András Schiff, who has praised the “astonishing clarity, purity, and maturity”
of her musical approach, particularly reflected in her renditions of Bach.
After many years of working with Rainer Maria Klaas, Schaghajegh Nosrati studied under the guidance
of Einar Steen-Nökleberg, Christopher Oakden, and Ewa Kupiec at the Hanover University of Music,
Drama, and Media, where she obtained her Artist Diploma (Konzertexamen). She completed a further
artist diploma degree in 2020 as a student of Sir András Schiff at the Barenboim-Said Academy in
Berlin, and received further valuable artistic counsel from Robert Levin, Murray Perahia, and Daniel
Barenboim.
From 2014 to 2021 she made guest appearances at major music venues including the Konzerthaus
Berlin, Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, the Tonhalle in Zurich, Vancouver Playhouse, 92Y New York,
the Kennedy Center in Washington D. C., Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, and the Philharmonie
in Berlin. In 2017 she went on tour for the first time to China, where she gave acclaimed
début performances in Beijing and Shanghai.
Stepping in for Radu Lupu, she gave her début performance at the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin in 2019;
a further highlight in her career was the joint tour with Sir András Schiff and his Cappella Andrea
Barca Chamber Orchestra in 2018 with performances of Bach’s concertos for two keyboards at venues
including the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, Vienna Musikverein, Düsseldorf Tonhalle and the KKL Lucerne.
Her first two CDs were released on the label Genuin: Bach’s Art of Fugue (2015) and Bach’s keyboard
concertos BWV 1052-1054 with the Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin (2017). Her third CD was
released in October 2019 on the CAvi-music label label as a coproduction with Deutschlandfunk Kultur:
it features a selection of solo piano works by French composer Charles Valentin Alkan, including
Concerto pour piano seul. Her first recording with orchestra appeared on the CPO label:
Piano concertos by Anton Rubinstein, together with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin.
Back to J.S. Bach, the young pianist recorded the Six Paritas BWV 825-830 as a coproduction with
Radio Bremen (CAvi-music).
Parallel to her performance activities, Schaghajegh Nosrati engaged herself in the area of music
education very early on. From 2015 to 2019 she taught piano at the Hanover University of Music,
Drama, and Media; since 2020 she has been the assistant of Sir András Schiff at the Barenboim-Said
Academy in Berlin.
